Chalice Lighting: The Light Within Us by Brian C. Lee
We light our chalice as a symbol of the Light within us
and the life that flows through the world around us.
It is our beacon as we search for truth.
It is the warmth in our hearts for love.
And it is the energy that propels us to action.
May we be kindled by our time together.
Opening Hymn: My Life Flows on in Endless Song SLT 108
Welcome & Announcements
Call to Worship:
As the sun rises in the morning,
As the cool breeze ushers in the evening,
As the heat of the noonday sun spreads across the land:
God is present with us.
Let us worship God.
Prayer of Invocation
First Sacred Reading Matthew 11:25-30
25 At that time Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; 26 yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. 27 All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Offering & Doxology: We Give You But Your Own – NCH 785
We give you but your own,
what e'er the gift may be;
All that we have is yours alone,
we give it gratefully
Second Sacred Reading: Tao Te Jing Chapter 25
Something mysteriously formed, born before heaven and earth. In the silence and the void, standing alone and unchanging, ever present and in motion. Perhaps it is the mother of ten thousand things. I do not know its name. Call it Tao. For lack of a better word, I call it great. Being great, it flows. It flows far away. Having gone far, it returns. Therefore, "Tao is great; Heaven is great; Earth is great; The king is also great." These are the four great powers of the universe, And the king is one of them. Human follows the earth. Earth follows heaven. Heaven follows the Tao. Tao follows what is natural.
