Prelude: Richard Harper
Chalice Lighting: A Beacon in Chaotic Times by Steven Winters-Bona
We light this chalice during chaotic times.
I invite you to allow its light to guide you—to bring you to a place where you feel balanced and present.
Let it remind you to feel your breath,
to surround yourself with the things you cherish,
lead you to remember one of your happy places.
Let it help you release the things you cannot control,
and remember that you are not alone—that we are all connected,
and all working to be a beacon of light in this chaotic time.
Carry this light with you—not in your hands, but in your words,
in your invitations,
in your willingness to begin.
Opening Hymn: Sweet, Sweet, Spirit NCH 361
Welcome & Announcements
Call to Worship: From UUA Worship Words
We bless this space and each other with our intention for connection.
May this truly be a sanctuary that radiates with the warmth of relationship.
May it be a place that nurtures and sustains human kinship,
Offering shelter and comfort, and creating bonds of affection and care.
May it provide opportunities for collaboration and interfaith work that does not end at these walls, but reaches out into the larger community and world.
May we be woven ever more artfully and lovingly into the interconnected web of life of which we are all a part.
CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE
We bless this sanctuary as a place of love and peace.
Prayer of Invocation:
Modern Testimony: Thank You Friend by Grace Noll Crowell
I never came to you, my friend,
and went away without
some new enrichment of the heart;
More faith and less of doubt,
more courage in the days ahead.
And often in great need coming to you,
I went away comforted indeed.
How can I find the shining word,
the glowing phrase that tells all that
your love has meant to me,
all that your friendship spells?
There is no word, no phrase for
you on whom I so depend.
All I can say to you is this,
God bless you precious friend.

Ancient Testimony: Matthew 10:40-42 New International Version
40 “Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. 41 Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward. 42 And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.”
