Welcome & Announcements

Call to Worship: - Hope Rises - By John A. Buehrens, Rebecca Ann Parker

Hope rises.

It rises from the heart of life, here and now, beating with joy and sorrow.

Hope longs.

It longs for good to be affirmed, for justice and love to prevail, for suffering to be alleviated, and for life to flourish in peace.

Hope remembers.

It remembers the dreams of those who have gone before and reaches for connection with them across the boundary of death.

Hope acts.

It acts to bless, to protest, and to repair.

 Prayer of Invocation

First Sacred Reading:     Romans 5:1-5

Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access[b] to this grace in which we stand, and we[c] boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. And not only that, but we[d] also boast in our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.

Blessing for Father’s Day

Offering & Doxology:   We Give You But Your Own - NCH 785

We give you but your own

Whatever gift may be,

All that we have is yours alone

We give it gratefully

Second Sacred Reading:  John 16:12-15

12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me because he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
