The film is based on the memoirs "Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through His Son's Addiction by David Sheff and Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines by Nic Scheff. Steve Carrell portrays father and Timothy Chalamet is the son Nic.
